Dear all,

I have plenty of superfluous bin bags (blue and purple), if anyone would like more?

Best wishes,
Isabel

Dear Isabel,
what size? We'd get some if they are big.
Thanks,
Dmitrii @ 22

Dear Dmitrii,

I didn't even know they came in different sizes! They're just the standard ones we get for free.. are they of any use?

Oh, I see! It seems that once, perhaps by mistake (as 22 is end of
terrace, we probably are not entitled to free bags?)
we got a bunch of these on our footstep.
I would certainly help you out, if they are not gone yet.
Thanks,
Dmitrii

Hello,
I also have a surfeit of these bags, and in the past have given them back
to the council.
If others also have far too many, I¹ll gladly gather them together and
take them back. If you leave them on my doorstep I¹ll add them to the pile.

Certainly- if you'd like to come to number 11 you can even choose!
Best wishes,
Isabel

Many thanks to whoever left 3 rolls of bags on our doorstep. :-)
So this is the distribution problem - every house is meant to get a
supply, but the
delivery is not very consistent, right?

When this system started we were asked to opt for bins or bags. So end of terrace who do not have to take rubbish through the house were not given bags at that time so probably your records affirm that.

Thanks for bags left at no 20!

Hi Dima

No, the houses with side access are not supposed to use the bags. When the wheelie bins were first introduced Hayfield Road campaigned (among others) to have bags instead because of the disfiguring effect of potentially having rows of bins left out on the street and the inconvenience to mid-terrace households of wheeling bins through the house. The council responded positively and gave residents in mid-terrace the option of either having wheeled bins OR bags. Houses with side access were not given this option (because the default rubbish collection is via wheelie bins as that is the swifter/more cost effective system).

So to answer your question the council have a list of which households qualify for bags and delivers only to those houses.

Best
