There is no specific mention of Haxe developers on your website are you just trolling for developers in general (which would be considered spam) ?

http://www.mgames.lt/#second

It seems you want pretty much every developer skill except Haxe!  I could not see any mention of Haxe on your website, perhaps if your serious about attracting Haxe talent your website should be more explicit about your interest in Haxe developers.

The location is perhaps behind this building?
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@54.6798086,25.2707827,3a,75y,359.29h,89.93t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sul-WvmoPf3CiheW4T3TUwQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?dcr=0

For most Haxe developers the idea of relocating to Lithuana is unlikely to be that appealing, despite the sounding city being quite charming for a visit, it's not likely to have the same attraction as some central European countries like France where many Haxe developers live.

Vilnius, Lithuania’s capital, is known for its baroque architecture, seen especially in its medieval Old Town. But the buildings lining this district’s partially cobblestoned streets reflect diverse styles and eras, from the neoclassical Vilnius Cathedral to Gothic St. Anne's Church. The 16th-century Gate of Dawn, containing a shrine with a sacred Virgin Mary icon, once guarded an entrance to the original city.

Also there is some reluctance to work in the Casino side of Game development, especially here in the UK where gambling law changes have resulted in huge increase in people with gambling problems.

But ethics aside as we all have to pay the bills I think you would have a lot more interest if you were willing to use Haxe developers remotely, many Haxe developers have limited companies for freelancing and are used to working on opensource code with others all over the world and would give preferencial pricing to projects that use Haxe language, over horrible languages like say PHP.

I know that I have said to guys at Gamesys that I would not relocate to London, but would consider remote Haxe work, I think remote might be the best way to get Haxe talent, apart from a few Haxers in Lithuana your going to struggle to get people relocating it's not London, Paris etc... ?

It really seems a shame, there is a lot of interest for Haxe developers, but all of it requiring relocation, and such opensource communities are more interested in remote work where projects have to be properly specified, and where you don't have to move away from friends and family.

Best

Justin

I feel the need to clarify that this is the opinion of a community member and doesn't necessarily reflect the opinion of our community as a whole. I'm sure Lithuania, and Eastern Europe in general, is a lovely place to both visit and live, and there's nothing morally wrong with working in casino business either.

There is always a moral dimension when working on products that are addictive

http://www.gamcare.org.uk/forums/new-members-intros-forum

I did not at any time suggest the Haxe Foundation had any view on the subject, nor do I believe it should. While you might be sensitive about sponsorship I am sure the industry is used to critics - which is healthy for the industry, since a well regulated industry that addresses any negative aspects before government intervention is likely to prosper.

There is no mention of Haxe in the job specifications on the website linked to, frankly I would consider the original post spam since there is no clear indication that he is really he is looking for Haxe developers, I would not be surprised if a similar email went to Ruby, Scala, Haskell groups.  For me it's not acceptable to post general software jobs on the Haxe list, and the job specifications suggest this is the case.  I think his website needs to have the word Haxe on it, until then I think his message should be considered as spam?  I am surpised you did not comment on this point?

To say that relocation is hard and that some capital cities are more likely to attract talent being extremely cosmopolitan, but remoting will give you wider range of talent, is fair generalization.  I don't remember being negative about living in Lithuania as a place or people, but realistically I don't belive it would not be an easy transition for many on the Haxe list, I am not racist in any form so I hope that you did not assume that, I was infact born in Cayman and everyone on my table at school was talking a different language and was a different nationality, dancing salsa I dance with people from all over Eastern Europe most weeks.  My points were about real practicalities - and that I think it would be simpler to sort out some remote connections.

Dear Weston,

first up: Hello and welcome. It looks like your company is just starting out which is pretty exciting. All the best!

It would be lovely if you could add "Haxe" to the skillsets of the open positions on your website, where applicable, and maybe create a specific listing for a Haxe developer. That listing should include the general skillset you are looking for as well as a description of what people will actually be working on.

I think that would increase the likeliness of actually finding someone quite a bit.

If you have a specific listing for a Haxe Developer, we will be happy to share it on our social media channels, I saw you are already on the Haxe Roundup but without a proper link to a position on your site.

Cheers,

Fiene

Weston

Very sorry it appears that the 'Haxe Developer' link does not work on mac firefox ( 55.0.2 (64-bit) ).

I have had a quick look at the source generated and in

<div id="second">

The Haxe developer div is not added, it appears to work on Chrome.

I did not think to assume that it was missing due to browser compatibility problem, sorry to kick up a fuss.

Best

Justin
