I'm in urgent need of a large bunch of standoffs and other screw-type hardware for a project, which are either expensive and/or unavailable locally. Therefore, I'm going to make an order from an AliExpress shop and use express shipping (FedEx / DHL etc). The nice thing is that they provide *FREE* FedEx/DHL shipping for orders above 300$. However, I only need about 100$ worth of stuff. I thought if any of you want to join in, then we can combine orders and enjoy the free shipping.

The particular seller looks quite reputable (although I haven't tried them yet personally) and the prices are good. Here is their store:

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/219903

If you want any stuff, reply (either to the group or to me privately) with a list of links to items and specify qty, plus expected total (disregard the shipping cost).

I plan to make the purchase in 24-48 hours since it's urgent.

also, if you want to *donate some screws hardware to TAMI*, let me know - either the specific items or just the donation amount, and I'll do that.

thanks!
Guy.

Does TAMI need $200 worth of screws?
If we actually do, and some can define a BOM, I'll ante up part of the cost.

IMHO we do, and I can define the BOM, but even 50$ will be nice. also, maybe some people want to order hardware for their personal use, in which case not all the 200$ will be for TAMI.

Also isn't is better to keep the shipment cost low to reduce the chances of passing through customs and adding extra % on the price?

I'll handle any extra costs. I have to order above 75$ anyway and with express, otherwise I don't meet a deadline for a project.

היי גיא,
דיברתי עכשיו עם אייל מ
XLN

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/500pcs-lot-Brass-Standoff-Spacer-M3-Female-x-M3-Female-40mm-Free-Shipping/987028689.html

במטל-עד זה עולה 2.20 (נדמה לי שאפילו לא כולל מע"מ) ליחידה, במקומות אחרים יותר.

good on ya -  i got a decent span of stuff when we moved to kg45 which is now more or less depleted - we could use:
all the metric machine bolts (and nuts), each in a couple lengths, either hex or phillips (maybe both?), i'll pony up for 200nis
maybe a set of american sizes too tho personally i was thinking to stay metric , u tell me
we are prob. ok for wood screws and washers
if u have the time take a look at the door leaning on the wall behind the dj station (above the woodroom) where the white boxes wound up
we also have several yellow boxes of screws floating around

jr, I agree. personally I try to avoid US screw sizes whenever possible, I suggest staying with metric. I'll try to come check what's already available before ordering if I can. btw, I plan to reorganize the screws etc stock in TAMI once I finish with my current organization project (the connectors) which is coming along nicely.

anyone else who can donate some in order to restock TAMI? or someone who wants to order stuff for themselves?

Yes, king boreg is my usual go-to store for screws. they don't have the standoff I need, though, and their prices can't really be compared to the prices from China.

yes, because I delayed the order (because of reasons related to my project). I hope to order around Wednesday after I finalize some things. if you fill like adding to the order, or better yet, to donate some money to TAMI's restocking, you are most welcome!

thanks :)

As you said, the sorting and combining of what I brought with TAMI's current stock is still a work in progress. basically I bought almost 100 types of bolts, nuts, washers etc (either 100pcs or 250pcs of each type, as made the most sense price-wise). I focused on M2 / M3 / M4, *stainless* good quality Allen bolts, nuts and washers, as well as some less common but useful stuff like nyloc nuts, half-height nuts and wing nuts. I also brought a bunch of extras from my personal stock where I had a lot of, including some M6 and M8 sized hardware.

some people have promised to partake in the funding of this (see earlier in the thread), and I'm counting on this... also, the promised funds don't cover all the costs (e.g. the plastic organizers Yair mentioned total 450 NIS) so I'd appreciate anyone else who wants to participate in funding this. I promise if I get any extra money beyond what I spent (unlikely?) I will follow up with a second purchase. you can paypal to guy (at) orcontech (nekuda) com, or just bring cash if/when we meet.

next in line: buy and use organizers for the wood screws and possibly the nails and the anchors ("dibelim"). I'm not sure that we need to purchase more of these screws (we'll know for sure once they are organized) but putting them in organizers will definitely make them much more useful.

one last thing: please, PLEASE treat the bolt organizers with respect, a lot of work and of a bunch of our $$ are invested in them. put everything back in place, do not mix types and of course be careful not to drop them...

I'll continue the sorting project next week.
