Hi!

I was excited to find a group who is ready to make Tyler somewhere we want to be! I am a student at UT Tyler, a maker, and a young traveler. I am from Tyler, but I've lived in Austin and Shreveport.  I am interested in boosting the community by encouraging the arts and marketing local and fair trade goods. I have recently become active with the East Texas Food Coalition and I work at the fair trade aimed flower shop Moss. I definitely would love to help you with focusing on culture and arts in your blog. I want to get Tylerites excited about being here because we all know we're kinda stuck here. Haha. I am connected with others in the community with common goals, I think we all need to collaborate to create events and other ways to get Tylerites involved in the community.

Thanks!

Addie

Heya Addie!

Welcome to the group, It's awesome to see you here and extra awesome that you're making edits on maketylerweird.com :)

My missus follows your shop on instagram as well, and although we haven't had the chance to swing by yet it certainly looks like a cool joint.

Keep us posted on what you're working on and if you need help with anything don't hesitate to ask, we've got a fairly diverse group so pretty much whatever you could need we've got someone who can help :)

We've been slacking on out meet ups for quite a while but need to schedule one soon to give all the new members a chance to meet in person - so keep your eyes peeled for that as well.

Once again welcome and thanks for joining!

Hi Addie and welcome!

I can't tell you how nice it is to hear the excitement in your email! I'm really glad you found us. I'd love to hear what local initiatives you're already working on and talk about ways our interests might overlap. (Aside: I'm friends with Carmen from ETFC--she's great.) It's great that you've taken the initiative to update MTW. Please keep at it! If there are any particular ideas you have about how we should focus/market/expand it, I would love to hear them.

Justin is right that we've definitely fallen out of habit with regard to regular meetups. That's my fault--too much travel. I'll try to set something up for April. In the meantime ping me off-list if you're interested in getting together and chatting about things. My schedule is usually pretty flexible.

Best,
Chris

Hello Addie,

I'm glad to see more people are trying to get involved with hacktyler.

We have an IRC Chanel that you're more than welcome to come chat in if you're interested on:

freenode
#hacktyler

And obviously this mailing list.

Now that I'm living in Aussie land I sadly won't be able to make the meet ups, but I'm still going to lurk on all the things!

Cheers
