2. Key Achievements
A lot has happened these past 3 months!
- We built the website, launched it and started publishing citizen reports within just 1 month. Our site was up on its feet for Valentines Day.
- We put together the core team
- We got a great deal with Hero Radio
- Hero Radio is one of Nakuru's most popular entertainment radios amongst the youth. We provide them with our local news content for free, against which they mention our name 12 times per day (movie-trailer style : “News brought to you by HiviSasa.com!”).
- So far we've had over 9,300 unique visitors and 36,000 page views
- FEB 14th - MAR 14th: 1,291 uniques visitors and 7,305 page views
- MAR 15th - APR 14th: 6,130 uniques and 21,365 page views
- APR 15th - to date: 1,902 uniques and 7,371 page views
- Sourced high quality 'citizen reports'
- We're receiving about 15-20 citizen reports per day
- We currently publish about 12 fresh articles per day
- these are some of our popular stories:
- Some of our articles have been used and credited by mainstream media:
- We are developing a partnership with the famous 'Tweeting chief': Chief Francis Kariuki from Nakuru County. He has 32,000 followers on Twitter and has been flown to America 3 times to give talks about his crime-prevention work through social media.
- We have 15,738 Likes on our Facebook page – our next step is to develop an aggressive social media strategy.
3. Raising Funds
We need you to connect us with private investors or donors !
We are raising between USD 250,000 - USD 300,000 to run for a 2-year period, up to break-even point.
Stay tuned for the investor and donor fundraising decks.
- REVENUE: We run on an advertisement revenue model. With Kenya’s high growth, advertisements are exploding, and their online share rapidly increasing. We offer advertisers a far-reaching and geographically identifiable audience. Typical local advertisers include:
- COST: We run a very compact team with low overheads. The incremental running cost of entering a new county is estimated at USD 2,000 / month. Our product is therefore highly scalable.
- IMPACT:
- we give a voice to every citizen
- we empower the counties at the national level
- we fill-in a community-level connectivity problem
- we enable citizens to generate income from their reports
- we contribute to skills-building through submission feedback and university internships online.
We look forward to hearing from you!
