DVD player is dying

Hi,
Our DVD player, which drives our 5.1 speaker setup from Toslink input, is dying
(switches itself off randomly, and requires power cycling to bring it back).
We're looking for something that supports either one of these modes of
operation:
- HDMI in -> $thing -+-> HDMI out
|
+-> 5.1 analog out
- Toslink in -> $thing -> 5.1 analog out
The 5.1 analog out needs to have sufficient power to drive passive speakers
(Logitech Z5500). Does anyone have any personal recommendations or a spare thing
that they want to get rid of that can fulfil this purpose?
