to General Transit Feed Spec Changes
Following last week's review period, we've posted the January 11, 2010
update to the spec. As usual, you can find the official spec at:
http://code.google.com/transit/spec/transit_feed_specification.html

This update contains one big change and a few smaller ones.

First, the big one: say hi to the "General Transit Feed
Specification"! Now that the name change is official, I've updated
the name of this group accordingly; please update any references in
your own documents. For reference, the original proposal was here:
http://groups.google.com/group/gtfs-changes/browse_thread/thread/a1bffb3083af3b15

Here are the rest of the changes:

* Corrected an error in the definition of the direction_id field in
trips.txt; the example previously assigned two different different
trip_headsign and direction_id values to the same trip_id. This was
first noted in this thread:
http://groups.google.com/group/gtfs-changes/browse_thread/thread/f1f67470428eab4

* Clarified the interpretation of arrival_time and departure_time in
stops.txt so that the interpretation is more likely to be correct on
days on which the daylight savings time offset changes. Relevant
threads:

http://groups.google.com/group/gtfs-changes/browse_frm/thread/cd1ac522472fc0e

* Clarified the semantics of service_id in both calendar.txt and
calendar_dates.txt, as proposed in this thread:
http://groups.google.com/group/gtfs-changes/browse_frm/thread/b25b9e180c4d0f63

Thanks to everyone for your proposals, comments, and tests. There are
several more promising extension proposals in progress in this group,
so hopefully some will be ready for inclusion soon!
