Just to introduce myself; I'm Al Sutton and my company own and run AndAppStore where the paid version of gTasks is available.
I've seen some of you don't want to use AndAppStore and I'd be happy to answer any questions or get any feedback from you guys as to why and what we can do to address that.
I'm happy for you to email me on or off list, so please, if you have any questions, let me know.
Al.

Concerns:
1. Privacy of my data and payment data.
2. Ease of upgrading gTasks in the future.
3. Inefficiency of having a second download app on my phone.
4. Having to use a program other than Android Market to check for
upgrades.
Thanks
Android Market only accepts pay-for applications from developers in a limited number of countries, which means that some developers (incuding SSI) have to look elsewhere in order to sell their application.
To address your concerns;
1) AndAppStore sends you to PayPal to make the payment, and all payment data is handled by them (specifically to address this concern). AndAppStore itself is owned and operated by Funky Android Ltd which is a company registered in England and is subject to UK corporate and data protection laws.
2) The AndAppStore client will notify you of updates listed in AndAppStore. Developers are free to implement their own update checking as well.
As for 3 & 4, things are always going to be easier and more efficient if a user has only 1 app installed for a specific purpose, but due to the restriction on countries where developers can list apps on it's not possible for SSI to make gtasks available via Market and hence another method is needed.
Regards,
Al.

Does that mean that one needs to keep the AndAppStore ap up and
running to receive update notifications?
Thanks,
Richard

You don't have to run the backgrounder update checker if you want to check for updates manually. You can turn it off in the settings page of the main application.
All the best,
Al.
