I don't believe Greasemonkey is fully working on the latest Firefox
3.6. The only reason I say this, is specifically because when I want
to install a user script file from any one of the many user script
files on "www.userscripts.org", by clicking the main "Install" button,
nothing happens. What can I do to install scripts?

Also, according to the user script instructions, they apparently say
that when Greasemonkey is installed, it should also add a new entry to
the "Tools" menu called "Install User Script". However, this is not
true in my case and I do not see it. I can get to the Greasemonkey
options through the Firefox add-ons manager, but even the Greasemonkey
options don't allow anything.

Someone please help.

Especially the steps about checking the error console, and trying a
fresh profile.

Thank you for your quick response.

Unfortunately I tried everything that the troubleshooting wiki page
you referenced instructs to do. Specifically, the error console does
not report any specific info pertaining to Greasemonkey at all. Thus,
clicking on the "Install" button link of a user script download page,
again, does nothing, and no information is passed to the Error Console
at all in regards to this specific action.

I tried creating a new profile and installing Greasemonkey on the new
profile, but still no change or difference at all.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do. I eagerly want
to install this "Remove All Facebook Ads" user script, but nothing is
working. Any script page with the "Install" button link simply does
nothing when clicked on.

With no error console output and nothing else happening, I need to turn
to the rest of the steps on that page. Can you confirm that
Greasemonkey is installed and enabled, and explain how you confirm these
facts?

Greasemonkey does appear to be installed and enabled as far as I can
tell. By going to "Tools >> Ad-ons" then going to "Extensions", I see
the entry for Greasemonkey and three button inputs labeled "Options",
"Disable", and "Uninstall". Clicking "Options" opens up a window
labeled "Manage User Scripts" which includes a very limited number of
configuration options. Clicking "Disable" disables the extension, and
clicking "Uninstall" I presume will uninstall the program. Otherwise,
as far as I can see, that's everything that installing Greasemonkey
has done. Installing Greasemonkey "did not" add any new entries to the
"Tools" menu.

The 'disable' button you referred to will disable the whole extension
(this would require you to restart firefox IIRC).
There is also an option to disable the execution of greasemonkey scripts only.

If you look in the bottom-right hand corner of the screen you should
see a 'monkey' icon. If it is grey, the execution of scripts is
disabled, otherwise the icon should be colourful (specifically, shades
of brown and black). Alternatively, if you right-click on this icon
you should see a menu-option called 'Enabled'. If there is a checkmark
next to this option then the execution of scripts is enabled,
otherwise click it to enable it.

That is good. It's definitely installed.

Could you post (a link to) a screenshot of this window?

That's not good. Something is definitely broken, and at a very low
level for that behavior to happen. Does something show in the error
console after a fresh launch of Firefox?

( 1 ) In regards to the presence of a "monkey" icon in the bottom-
right hand corner of the Firefox window, or anywhere on the window for
that matter . . . nothing. I don't see this icon.

( 2 ) Go to the following link for a screenshot of the "Manage User
Scripts" window that I am referring to >>
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B3DGXdpMefMdMWYxZjI3MjktODVkYi00NTc0LWJmMDYtYzU1YjMwZjlhYWJm&hl=en

( 3 ) As requested, what I did with an open session of Firefox, is
first clear all messages in the Error Console, then closed Firefox
program. Then confirmed Firefox executable was indeed "not" present in
the processes list of Windows Task Manager to confirm it has been
closed. Then opened Firefox back up and immediately opened up the
Error Console window, which only reported the following data:

Entering mode Normal ESM=false

Warning: Unknown property 'zoom'. Declaration dropped.

And you say you followed the fresh profile steps and it still happens?
I'm pretty flummoxed. There's just a few more details, as listed here:

http://wiki.greasespot.net/Greasemonkey_Manual:Getting_Help

That _might_ help. But something seems to generally be very wrong.

I figured out the problem. You see, I run ZoneAlarm Internet Security
on my PC, which automatically installs a specific toolbar to the
Firefox browser. I'm not sure if the special ZoneAlarm toolbar is
needed or not in Firefox as far as internet security goes, but here is
what I did to confirm the problem: I went through the "fresh profile"
steps again and reinstalled Greasemonkey on a test profile. But before
I installed Greasemonkey, I decided to disable the ZoneAlarm toolbar
extension, then install Greasemonkey, and it appears to work fine,
with the monkey icon and everything.

With this in mind, I suppose I will simply have to disable the
ZoneAlarm toolbar and hope that doesn't compromise the functionality
of ZoneAlarm. Under ideal circumstances, I would really like ZoneAlarm
and Greasemonkey to work together just fine. Maybe there is a fix to
get ZoneAlarm and Greasemonkey working together on Firefox?

1) Glad to have helped.
2) It's awesome that you told us this, so we can investigate this
specific problem. Is this a free version of ZoneAlarm, and if so can
you show me where exactly to download the version you have?
3) This also points to some extra instructions that should be detailed
on the 'fresh profile' steps -- I forgot that some software will force
itself into even a "fresh and clean" profile.

Just google "ZoneAlarm" and see what they offer. I myself am paying
for the service; specifically just the general internet security
package and "not" the eXtreme package.

Hi,
Download link on http://www.greasespot.net/
still points to Version 0.8.20100211.5
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748
and Firefox 3.6 is not supported
Behaviour of Greasemonkey is similar to
jmine83, so maybe ZoneAlarm is not interfer to the problem.
How can I download current release?

That makes no sense. Of course it "still" points to that version, as it
was only released yesterday.

This statement is patently false.

Follow all the steps I told him to. Take a look at the wiki pages
mentioned in this thread. Do what they say, and tell us what they tell
you to tell us. We can't do anything without information.

Not working and don't show any error. Exist some log that can I see?
The installation was normal.

If you follow those instructions and get to the point where they say you
should ask for more help, there's a lot more details it asks for. We'll
need those to help.
