This was installed as per the instructions on the GQRX web site. OS is latest distribution; Kernel is reported as 4.4.21-v7+ using uname -r; rpi-update reports that the firmware is up to date.

Using a FUNCube Pro+ Dongle, it runs much better than it does under Ubuntu MATE 16.04. It does not seem to crash at all. Processor load (as reported under CPU Usage Monitor) is ~70%. I use a processor heatsink with fan cooling to avoid overheating problems.

The sound is not perfect; there are occasional burbles.

Note that when attempting to run with a set of Bluetooth headphones connected, Gqrx fails to start and appears to have crashed. Otherwise, it interfaces to both HDMI and Analogue audio outputs.

Uname -r reporting 4.4.21 seems to have been an anomaly. I executed sudo rpi-update to a previous update and then restored it to the latest version such that uname -r then reported 4.4.26 as expected. It seems that if rpi-update thinks that the firmware is up to date, it won't attempt a fresh update, hence the need to wind it back a version or two to get it to do an update. However, GQRX continues to work as expected.

It seems that the amount of distortion of the sound depends on the gain setting in the Audio panel. There is less distortion at the speakers if the gain is lowered in the panel and the volume control of the speaker output increased to compensate. (This applies to both Analogue and HDMI outputs.)
