Hi,

I've just upgraded from rtl-sdr to airspy mini.

I used to connect remotely to my rtl-sdr thanks to rtl_tcp.

For airspy, there is spyserver program providing the remote access to the SDR but I can't actually use it.

Is there a support of spyserver in gqrx or I am doing something wrong ?

Nicolas

Hi Alexandru,

Do you have any forecast to have spyserver supported as an input device in our beloved Gqrx software ?.
This would allow a lot of us running remote station to have a nice client under linux.
(As far as I know there is none, I found a very early release of sdr# [0.0.0.0] but not usable with remote server
How could I help this to happen ?.

Kindly
Jean-Marc

It seems it is now supported in this gr-osmosdr fork:

I had a quick play with that code last week and it worked, I imported
it into https://github.com/csete/gr-osmosdr-gqrx for my reference.
It will be difficult to keep it in sync because the implementation is
not on its own branch.

Anyway, it will take some time before it can appear in a package or release.

Also, note that it is only raw IQ streaming and the compressed low
rate formats that make sense over the Internet are not supported.

Try this:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/gqrx/files/testing/

Be sure to select sample_rate = airspy_rate/N, where N = 1, 2, 4, 8,
16, ... and not greater than the max allowed I/Q rate in the spyserver
config.

Hi.

I tried the new spyserver support, it's ok with spyservers with airspy hF+.

But it doesn't seems to work for spyservers with airspy / airspy mini / RTL-SDR.

It's probably because the Raw I/Q only streaming.

But very good for HF+ units.

I waited this for long time.

Hi Nicolas

Doesn't work how? I don't see why there would be any difference,
except that you have to choose a proper sample rate according to

sample_rate = airspy_rate/N, where N = 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, ...

and not too high to avoid netowrk congestion.

Hi Alex,

I was trying spyserver with airspy R2 attached over internet.

You are right, I haven't chose a good sample rate and a too high one reaches the network bandwith limits.

I tried with a RTL-SDR over internet, it's ok.

It actually works good for now.

My goal is to put rtl-sdr on LAN.

Thank you for help.

GQRX is my main SDR tool for years.

Oups, I have 60 days lateness on my gmail account email read ... .

Still the same question, I will run either an odroid xu4 ubuntu 16.04 but with kernel 3.11 (on greater kernels USB port are not working correctly at 10MSPS with an airspy R2 source Youssef) or on an hystou FMP04 i7 rugged pc running ubuntu 18.xx . Much more probably the hystou as I am willing to run two spyservers in // with some gqrx (?4?) clients.

I made osmocom and thus gqrx working on the hystou , with a perseus, but haven't found the spyserver as a choice , it was a month agon probably it is integrated now ?.

Which way should you recommand me ?.

Hi,

I am unclear how to setup gqrx to work with a spsyserver. I had a look on the web, found a couple of informations, but it's still unclear to me to make it run.

My setup is

Two odroid xu4 running ubuntu ans spyservers , one with a airspyHF+ (local ip 192.168.1.32 port 5556) and the other one with a R2 (local ip 192.168.1.79 port 5555)

A virtualized ubuntu 19.10 under vmware on the same local network , but it could be whatever linux box and ideally an odroid (and even better one of the two hosting the spyservers)

I tried the here below, but it won't start.

Any help would be gratefull

In Spyserver, there is only space for a static IP address.  I have rogers cable.  Rogers only allows for a dynamic IP address.  Therefore, so far as my limited knowledge allows me, the Spyserver won't work.  If anyone knows how to get gqrx to work on a dynamic address IP provider, please let me know.  Anyway, that probably why Spyserver won't work on your computer.
