GQRX all of a sudden does nothing when I press the play button.

I'm running the latest version of GQRX on Mint 18.1 64bit with a  Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL2838 DVB-T. It worked the other day but now does nothing. I've tried different USB ports and nothing strange in dmesg when it plug it up. Not sure how to diagnose this.

Is the device still working, e.g. with rtl_test or rtl_fm?

Do you see any error messages if you start gqrx in a terminal?
