Too much treble

First and foremost, I want to say that Gqrx is amazing, I love using it with my home made RTL SDR box, and has worked amazingly well with it.  There is one minor thing however, when compared to other SDR programs like SDR#, and it's that, for example, when in FM Stereo, there's simply too much treble, and I can't see a way to tone it down.  It's like someone took the tone control of an old radio and cranked it up too high.  When I switch to WFM (mono), the treble certainly goes down, and I can some lower end too, whereas WFM stereo certainly is on the tinnier side.

I've had to route the audio through an EQ to make it sound better, but it's not a perfect solution because if I switch to something that's modulated in AM, then it has far too much bass and to little treble, and I have to modify by EQ again.

Has anyone else noticed that Gqrx simply has too much treble, and perhaps too little bass when listening in FM Stereo?  It seems the narrowband FM mode also is the same, too much treble, yet AM and WFM mono sound just fine.

Hello Brandon,

I think you will find that there are many places in gqrx that has not (yet) got the necessary attention to implement it in all the details that it deserves. I suspect what you observe is one of these areas.

For instance, I know that narrow FM does not have audio low pass filter so you will hear audio noise up to 24 kHz. It could be something similar for stereo FM. Hopefully I, or somebody else, will have some time in the future to look into these issues.

That is likely it, because a low pass filter would without a doubt, lower the treble, and certainly explain why narrow FM has the same issue too.  I wonder why mono FM sounds better, but that could simply be a placebo and be my imagination.

Hopefully a lowpass filter can be added, because listening to music on the FM broadcast band is a little cringing on my AKG headphones, whereas if I use SDR# it's definitely much better.
