Yes, it's free, and yes, there will be power plugs. Let's hope there's no power outage like last time. :)

Hi Ludo,

Sorry for not responding before the meetup, and thanks for pitching up anyway. :)

Some feedback:

Great to see the numbers have increased significantly. 13 of us managed to attend.

Place was hard to find (for me!).

Screen at the venue was a bit small (had some difficulties viewing code/info), but not a big issue.

I think we had free food, so that is a plus :P

Somehow discussion (to all attendees) about PyCon slipped the minds of everyone (apologies Simon), but hopefully awareness exists among users.

Meta discussion (informally) mentioned things like:

  • Differences between beginners and advanced users
  • Commercial uses of python
  • PyCon
  • Venue rotations
  • etc.

Anyone have any other feedback? (I was late, so maybe I missed some exciting stuff in the beginning)

Regards,

H

I've learned not to rely on that. :P

Are there any other channels we should be making announcements on it
order to reach Gauteng Python developers?

Not really a suggestion just for Gauteng-based folk, but maybe here:

http://jobsburn.com/jobs/events/

Also, we can create a thread in this group and start a discussion on our meetup site too.

How many attendees are you looking to attract this year (using numpy, plotting a linear estimate from 2012 and 2013 attendee numbers :P ) ?

Regards,
H

I'm hoping to reach 250 but it's a new city so there's a lot of
uncertainty in that.

I will spread the word as far as I can to the local communities and Python using companies that I know of. Is there any kind of "standard" material I can refer them to?
