I can create tutorials, but I can’t include any images in the side bar.  I choose the file and click upload, and nothing happens.  If anyone has any thoughts on what I might try to fix this, please let me know.  (also sorry for the multiple posts -- I was trying to delete the old ones to avoid lots of replies)

I found this is in guide_on_the_side/app/tmp/logs/error.log, but I don't know what it might indicate I need to do:

 2012-11-26 03:46:10 Error: [MissingControllerException] Controller class TutorialsController could not be found.

#0 /var/www/guide_on_the_side/app/webroot/index.php(98): Dispatcher->dispatch(Object(CakeRequest), Object(CakeResponse))

#1 {main}

Here is what line 98 reads:

$Dispatcher->dispatch(new CakeRequest(), new CakeResponse(array('charset' => Configure::read('App.encoding'))));

I searched the google group, and tried these things:

1. php adjustment

 I saw this:

https://github.com/ualibraries/Guide-on-the-Side/blob/master/app/Model/Behavior/SteppableBehavior.php#L182

I thought from this post I might need to delete the “/” in the same line of this file: SteppableBehavior.php.  That didn’t work for me though, so I changed it back.  But my guide_on_the_side is installed in  /var/www and not a sub-directory of www.

 2. Permissions adjustment:

 I tried changing the permissions of the guide_on_the_side/app/webroot/uploads/images folder to 777, but that didn’t help either.

 3. Image file format:

I had been trying to upload a .png file, and I switched to try it with a .jpg file, but that wasn’t it.

How was this resolved, please and thanks.  We are having the same issue here at HCC, and I've done the same troubleshooting.

Many thanks,
Angela

What is HCC?

I didn't figure it out, and I was at the U of Arizona then, so just used the main library's instance. I think that I remember finding a way a manually put in the code to display images, but that was it.

If you figure it out, please reply so that I can know too. I would look at using GotS again if that could be resolved.

Hi Robert,
While I was investigating this issue I experienced the same problem in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS which has php7. There was a deprecated function that was being called that was causing this problem. The fix for this was just merged into the repository. Given how old this discussion is though, I doubt that would be the origin of your issue. However I am curious, what version of php and cake are you using? Also would it be possible to get a snippet from the apache logs after you try to uploading an image?

Thanks,
Andy

Sorry, I was assuming your using apache. What I meant was the error log from your HTTP server, or php error log.

Dear Andy,

Thanks for responding.

I'm sorry that I can't get you that information. That instance of GotS was on a virtual machine that is gone now. I never did get that to work, and I didn't save a copy.

Sincerely,
Robert
