I wouldn't say that you need to work for a very long time, I don't believe there is a minimum time that you need to spend as long as you demonstrate that you will be a valuable addition to the RER team.   You need to show that you consistently make high quality edits, you participate in reviewing the edits of others (very important), and are active on this forum in both asking questions and helping out new users.

Is it just me, or are others seeing my previous post show up twice?

I don't want to try and delete one in case it's a temporary bug and they both get deleted.

I became a Regional Expert Reviewer by taking the time to learn how to properly add and edit features on Google Map Maker. I spent many hours reviewing and correcting entries around my hometown and surrounding area. I was surprised when they asked me to become a RER, I guess my many hours of learning how Map Maker works helped. Good luck with your mapping.

It is good that you do reviews and follow the guidelines when doing so.  Learn them well, and learn the editing guidelines.  Keep reviewing, your review trust level grows a little each time you review it correctly.  Answer questions here on the forums if you are sure of the answer; avoid jumping in just so say something if you are unsure.  Over time this will all be noticed; but you must be patient.

@Kanu: Hi, I suggested that Review Help Center might help you because I find it a great source of guidance when reviewing, which, honestly speaking here, I didn't knew in detail that well when last year I started to be a RER; that guidelines helped me a lot. Together with User Guides/Help Center are a valuable piece of information, specially when reviewing non-typical feature edits on my region.
As other fellows RERs said on this topic GMM team has the role to select and invite us and we are just sharing our own opinion about what may be taken into consideration.

About your reviews, IMHO, since I am not a quality check expert nor do I know your region to evaluate their accuracy, I read some of your comments and I do find it great the way you try to engage with new mappers, always being polite and educative. Kudos!

I completely understand that being a RER is important to you, and it might be the next step on your GMM collaboration. I think you made your point quite clear and maybe GMM team will read this post, until then I completely agree with Flash post, and wish you all the best ;)

Regards.
JPF

p.s.- Sometimes I(we) use recurrent topics to address all the possible related replies, even if they are not 100% directed to you, trying to reach other mappers that will use forum search and find topics like this on an attempt to lower forum repetitions.

To all that read this thread, please do not post about wanting to become an RER. Doing so will not make your chances of becoming one any better. Just continue to make good edits in your area, and review others' edits. This is how you show that you are ready to become an RER.

It should also be noted that becoming an RER does not give you any powers when editing the map. It only means that when you review edits, they have more weight as opposed to a typical user's reviews.

Out of curiosity, how many reviews do you RERs have?

Also, is there such thing as Regional Expert Editor? Does it ever get quicker to make edits?

+Master Darko,
I have just under 2000 reviews and just over 6000 edits. There are RERs with tens of thousands of edits and reviews. The quality and consistency of edits and working with others in your area will get you noticed and perhaps nominated. Being an RER does not give you any special tools nor any special editing "power". As you continue to add quality edits and do reviews that are solid your reputation, or rather, your trust level will increase. When I first started, everything went into moderation. Now I can do certain kinds of edits on a national highway and those edits get published immediately. Trust level doesn't seem to apply with some features, but how the system really works is known only to Googlers and not us mortals. :^)

As with Map Maker as a tool set, the community is evolving too, and any ideas you have to improve editing and reviewing are welcome. Don't be shy about going to the Issue Tracker and posting enhancement requests and then tell the forums about your idea. Maybe you can get people star your enhancements and other suggestions.

Work hard and do good work if you want to be nominated for an RER designation.

Hello All,

I need a Local Regional Expert for South Carolina.

I am a Google Trusted Independent Photographer and will need your experiences on a day to day. Is anyone available. Please email me. I need one to two Mappers as a team OR Google can give me mapping privileges :)..

Noah, this is a pretty old thread that is unrelated to your request to be in contact with an RER.  I suggest in the future that you create a new topic with an appropriate title.

If you have specific item that need reviewing, you can start a topic in the "Review Edit Requests" category.  Be sure to use the correct title format of:

Country > State > City

Using the correct title is critical to get the attention of the appropriate reviewers.

My guess is that not too many RERs are going to give out their email address to get bombarded with edit requests, and there are also more than 1 RER that is capable of helping you.  That's why this forum was created, it's a way for mappers to expedite reviews by letting RERs know there is something that needs attention.

Hope that helps.
