Google finance volume chart

Hi - I am new to Google Finance and I am having problems with the Volume display below the main charts for stocks.  I was anticipating a normal volume chart which displays the volume for the day or selected period, but what I have is what is displayed in the attachment.  Am I missing something?

That's not volume.  That's a longer timeline for stock prices that can be scrolled or expanded with your mouse.  To get volume, click settings below the chart, and then check "volume".
