Chrome network inspector slowness issue since v50

Since v50, switching to the headers tab in the network inspector is taking several seconds (it took only milliseconds prior to v50).
This issue makes it really time consuming to inspect traffic details, especially when working on API consuming web applications. 
The issue is still present in v51.

My environment: 
Linux, Ubuntu 14.04.
Chrome version: 51.0.2704.103 (64-bit)
