is there a complimentary interface to debug Node?

I.e. so a debugger could be built for both Chrome and Node via the same interface? Any attempts at building such a thing? What would be the challenges to do so?

Also I'm working on multi-protocol support in https://github.com/sidorares/node-vim-debugger ( v8 debugger protocol + CRD ) so you'll be able to set one breakpoint in the source file and see it stop on the server or on client
