Using sendas to change users default mailing address

Trying to assign a users default sendas address to an address they currently already have in their account and I get the error

gam user first.last sendas last....@domain.com "last first" default

ERROR: 409: Conflict - alreadyExists

Is there any other way to change the users default sending address to one that is already part of their account?

Derrick,

Assuming that your are on Gam 3.71 or higher, you want to update the sendas, not add a new sendas. (There is an implied add in your command).

gam user first.last update sendas last....@domain.com name "last first" default

Unlike add, the name field is optional with update, so you say name "last first" to indicate that you want to update the name field.
