Skip compiling certain go sample files

I have an appengine project that contains some sample golang code.  These are files used to demonstrate coding in golang and they are not an actual part of the project.

However, the goapp deploy builds them and fails.  For example, with this error: "Compile failed: 2016/10/27 23:40:23 go-app-builder: Failed parsing input: package main must be the top-level package"

Is there a setting to include the files in the deployment as static files, but to not build them?
