Has anyone had success using the YouTube Javascript API to rate videos?

Hello All,

I will be embedding a YouTube video on a web page and creating my own Thumb Up an Thumb Down buttons to mimic those on YouTube. I will be calling the youtube.videos.rate and youtube.videos.getRating methods to accomplish this. My initial tests have worked for the most part, or so I thought until I went to check the ratings for the video I was testing on YouTube and found the ratings did not change for videos I don't own. I could rate my own video (via the API) and YouTube would reflect the changes. However, rating a video I don't own (via the API) are not reflected in YouTube.

You can test this using the Try it! link on the YouTube Data API Vides:rate page.

Steps to recreate the issue:

1 Go to: https://developers.google.com/youtube/v3/docs/videos/rate

2 Click the Try it! link found at the bottom of the right side navigation aside

3 Enter the video id, rating (like, dislike, none) and click the Authorize and Execute button

4 Go to the video's YouTube page and see if the rating you just made is reflected
