Hello,

I compiled GC from the git repo on Mint.

I have the CycleOps Joule2 GPS:

[298822.217374] usb 3-2: new full-speed USB device number 36 using xhci_hcd
[298822.240364] usb 3-2: New USB device found, idVendor=0403, idProduct=6001
[298822.240376] usb 3-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[298822.240382] usb 3-2: Product: CycleOps Joule GPS
[298822.240386] usb 3-2: Manufacturer: CycleOps
[298822.802902] usbcore: registered new interface driver usbserial
[298822.802960] usbcore: registered new interface driver usbserial_generic
[298822.803003] usbserial: USB Serial support registered for generic
[298822.812547] usbcore: registered new interface driver ftdi_sio
[298822.812612] usbserial: USB Serial support registered for FTDI USB Serial Device
[298822.813044] ftdi_sio 3-2:1.0: FTDI USB Serial Device converter detected
[298822.813166] usb 3-2: Detected FT232RL
[298822.813175] usb 3-2: Number of endpoints 2
[298822.813182] usb 3-2: Endpoint 1 MaxPacketSize 64
[298822.813189] usb 3-2: Endpoint 2 MaxPacketSize 64
[298822.813196] usb 3-2: Setting MaxPacketSize 64
[298822.813764] usb 3-2: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now attached to ttyUSB1

I changed the permissions on /dev/ttyUSB1 so the current user can read and write.

I try to download the data from the unit and get this:

getting summary ...

getting data ...

Get Unit Software Version...

Download failed

It says "read timeout"

I then recompile with DEBUG, but launching with --debug produces no data in goldencheetah.log:

total 12
-rw-r--r--  1 sergei sergei    0 Dec  3 16:08 goldencheetah.log
-rw-r--r--  1 sergei sergei 7168 Dec  3 16:08 trainDB
drwxr-xr-x 12 sergei sergei 4096 Dec  3 16:09 Sergei

I also tried the D2XX support (even though I don't think it was necessary), but that didn't work either.

Any idea how I can get it to work?

Thanks,
Sergei

Hi Sergei:

I ran into the same problem when I compiled GC on two different machines - one running Ubuntu Precise and the other Debian Wheezy. You can read the solutions offered on the golden-cheetah-developers group:

Unfortunately, I did not find a workable solution to the problem. I recently compiled the GC master on a mac running Yosemite and ran into similar issue - the screenshots as follows:

Thanks!

Without digging too much in the code, any idea how to enable logging?

Hi Sergei,

Have you been able to resolve this? I'm having the same issue on a fresh Fedora 22 installation and latest GC. I haven't installed any D2XXX, I think it's not needed. CycleOps is recognized but I get the timeout message. I'm now experimenting with the modem manager and see if I can blacklist the PID of the device but still no luck.
