I'm uploading past rides to Golden Cheetah for this whole year and I'm getting a bug: Once I've uploaded the file to GC and make any manual change of data everything seems to be working ok, but once the changes are saved there are information that get lost and that was there before: cadence, speed, time moving (at least those are what I can notice, I guess that) and elevation gains is terribly messed (for example, it drops from the original 530 mts to only 15mts.)

The data I'm changing manually are weight, file code, and TSS (I have a tacx smart trainer for indoor training where I train on weekdays, and only ride  day outdoors on sunday, so I make manual entry for TSS in that day given I have no powermeter in the bike). First I thought the problem was because the manual entry for TSS, so I've tested with only changing a few variables like weight or name coded independently but the problem keeps going on. Even if only change the "file code" the data get lost.

I have tried with .fit and .tcx data and the problem persists. I could let the data without changing any data manually but then the data analysis of GC would be pretty far from reality. This year I lost 12% of my weight in three month and the manual entry for TSS I'm convinced that a manual entry for TSS, one of every 8 or 14 rides, is better than letting it on zero, for the trend analysis.

Is anybody else having this same issue? Is there anything I can do?

I'm noticing that whenever I add any information manually (even only the workout code) and the activity is saved, the next happens

 • Time moving: Turns into a zero value.
 • Elevation Gain: Sometimes it changes dramatically
 • Speed turns into zero.
 • Cadence: disappears from summary and cannot see it in the chart nor edit page.
 • tHb (g/dL): disappears
 • SmO2 (%): disappears
 • TRIMP and TRIMP (100) go up drastically
 • Calories turns into zero.

I'm recording in this ways:

A) Recording with Garmin 910 xt with cadence and speed sensor (no powermeter) for outdoor rides
B) Recoding with Garmin 910 for indoor training with tacx Smart trainer, using the cadence / speed / power sensors of the trainer.
C) Recording data with Tacx, uploading it to strava and downloading the original file from strava.

The bug happens always in the A and B ways of recording the activity. For the activities recorded with tacx seems there are no problems when changing information manually.

Though it was a problem with garmin files, so I just tested it with an adndroid app called Indoor Cycling Workout (ICW), and the same issue happens once I add information manually. I'm attaching a fit file generated with ICW, the firs hour there are no heart rate data because it was not detected by the app, but after that hour it start recording heart rate data.

Which version and platform are you using?

I've tried importing your .fit file on the last 3.5 dev built (https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/releases/tag/v3.5-DEV1710), setting a Workout Code, override TSS and save without any of the issues you describe.

I'm using the 3.4 for windows 64 bits. Later, at home, I'll search the 3.5...

Hello Ale Martinez!

I've installed the 3.5 version and I'm having the same issue. I got the version 3.5 for windows 64 bits. As i wrote before, when i make changes to the files recorded with the garmin 910 or the ICW android app, datta goes wrong when i save the changes. So, if it's working ok with your GC, could it be a problem about the file where I have stored the files?

I have the original files saved in a Google Drive folder wich is synchronized with my PC. I moved one of the original files to the folder "Activities" wich is in C:/Users/win2010/AppData/Local/GoldenCheetah/Martino but the issue still remains.

It's weird... can you post the 2017_02_26_06_33_54.json file from your activities folder?

This morning I've uninstalled once more GC and then delete manually the folder in appdata. Then reinstalled again v3.5 and I've tested it with some rides and seems it's working ok. By the way, I do have the an example of the json file wich lost information after saving it , I noticed there was no "cadence" data, though I opened it with notepad.

Anyway, if you're interested in looking it around I attach the fit and the json generated by GC when the issue was present.
