GC does not run

This morning GC does not run at all. Clicking on the icon makes the computer think a bit, then nothing,

Last evening, I was playing around with some custom metric trends to try and plot user defined metadata like temperature index etc. I saved, closed out and shut down the computer. This is the last thing I did.

What are my options to get back on track quickly!

Uninstalled GC entirely after backup my files. 

Reinstalled GC again and R.

Downgrade R, or install 3.5 dev or run GC with --no-r

Thanks Mark, that helped. GC runs again without R being installed. So does this mean I can't run R anymore? Any insight on why GC wouldn't open, so I can prevent this from happening again ?
