I get the attached message about R when I launch it (using Windows 7).  I know I can just turn it off in the options but wouldn't it make more sense to have it off by default and anyone that wants it can turn it on?  Or maybe with that message offer to turn it off or provide quick instructions on how to do so.  It would just be a bit of a dubious message for a first time user.

Yes, I think we should disable R at future startup if the load fails.

On the purely cosmetic side of things, I also noticed that checking and unchecking the "Enable R" checkbox toggles the visibility of the "R Installation Directory" field.  However, it is always visible when I launch the Options screen, whether the Enable checkbox is checked or not.

In Train mode, I was not able to establish connections with Bluetooth devices (Polar HR belt, Tacx Vortex Smart) on a MacBook Pro running MacOS 10.12.

Hi,

I've just been playing a little bit with some user defined metrics in a metric trend chart and it seems that something goes wrong when saving a chart in the sidebar library. When reopening goldencheetah, the chart comes up empty. When I add the user defined metric in a chart that's directly at the main toolbar, everything seems ok. See pictures below:

Chart in main window:

Chart in sidebar library directly after creating:

Chart in sidebar library after restarting the program, all curves containing user defined metrics disappear:

I noticed that there are some XData series found in some of my swim and run files as well (in the edit tab of the activity). Can I find some information on these data and what can be done with them?

Kind regards,

Nigel

For the Swimming files see: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/golden-cheetah-users/f61gGm21oQ0/rHDVKzL6CAAJ, a section for Swimming and Running in the Wiki would be a good companion for V3.4 release BTW

Great stuff, thanks. I'll look at it, I suspect the sidebar needs to be made user metric aware, not quite sure what could be wrong though !

Will fix.

How does a "release candidate" differ from a v3.4 for regular folk, not versed in R?
If no difference, how to upgrade from 3.3?
If differ, when will v3.4 be available for regular folk.

Sorry Mark,
I don't see nothing about the possibility of planning a future season and see the future changes in a PMC other than real

Thanks

Tipically RCx have all the features and install in the same way as the corresponding Release version, difference usually is testing and bug fixes.
You can disable R in General Options/Preferences.

If no difference, how to upgrade from 3.3?
See above, but you should backup your user data to be able to go back to v3.3 if you want to.

If differ, when will v3.4 be available for regular folk.
When RCx testing is finished, this can take several rounds depending on the bugs reported.

Hi,

I experienced another small bug when using user defined metrics in a metric trends chart. Sometimes it happens that the data I want to display are not loaded or are not loaded completely (some series are, some are not).
A workaround for this problem is to edit the user defined metric, by e.g. just adding a pair of brackets and resaving the metric. In this case the red progress bar appears and the data are displayed after reindexing the activities. Unfortunately this takes quite some time.

Picture of an incomplete chart. The data series should show best paces for different distances:

Picture after editing one of the user defined metrics:

Another thing that seems to be missing is the legend underneath each data series. All fields were completed in the user defined metric.

I tried another workaround by avoiding user defined metrics and just using formulas directly in the chart's curves. In this case there are no issues with either loading of the data or displaying legends. Unfortunately the formatting of pace as "m:ss" seems to get lost and precision (1 decimal) is too low to distinguish between activities.

Picture avoiding user defined metrics:

Kind regards,

Nigel

This part seems easy to fix, I will do. In the meantime the tooltip should give you mm:ss

I've also seen the problem with custom metrics, but I haven't found an specific situation when it happens.

I deleted the chart.xml , the home layout.xml, usermetrics.xml and recreate my custom metrics but the results is similar , the chart are empty

Just wondering, will all Windows releases now require Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable?

It's not a massive deal but it makes it harder to run GC standalone, like from a USB drive.

Its really about QT and MS compilers, there's not a lot we can do about it sadly.
Its not something we control or decided.

I also had problem to display custom fields data, where i add data manually, in trend charts.

The solution i have found is to create a formula where i divide or multiply my custom data field by 1.
After that i can see the my custom fields data in charts with no problem.

I´ve installed the GC 3.4 and  R-3.2.5 for Windows (32/64 bit) but I can't see de new Workout editor. What I see seems like the old Workout like CG3.3.
How can I use the new one with qwkcode and blocks?

Mark,

Will "Reset Layout" discard all my settings on the Activities screen? I've recently moved over to Ubuntu 16.04 from Mac, and the formatting is rough. I can get most of it ok, but the Summary & Details section is in tiny script. Very difficult to read. Also, the search bar is very small, and some titles are overlapping. Minor stuff, but if it can be fixed...

On a positive note, it was an absolute breeze moving things over! I've been storing my database on Dropbox for a few years, and I was able to fire up my new machine, install DB, install GC, and then simply "point" it to the Dropbox folder and voila! So nice. Everything where it should be.

Thanks!

How does one find where to download this release candidate? The only download on the GC website is the August devo build!

Thanks
