Its been 10 years to the day since Sean released GoldenCheetah on September 6th 2006.

We've come a long way and what a fantastic achievement we have all made. With so many contributors over the years it would take to long to recognise everyone, but some notable folks to thank;
  • Sean Rhea - who started the whole thing
  • Dr Phil Skiba - who has supported us throughout
  • Gear Fisher - who kindly allowed us to incorporate TrainingPeaks ideas
  • Gareth Coco - for a gazillion builds and a build system that works
  • Damien Grauser - who has contributed so much to the code base
  • Ale Martinez - who has driven the improvements for multisport and language support
  • Joern Rischmuller - for finally getting the whole thing documented and building the cloudDB
Along the way some folks have come and gone, but notably
  • Jamie Kimberley - who created a community and helped new starters get going
  • Justin Knotzke - who collaborated on train view and ANT+ support
  • Dan Connelly - who injected steroids into the CP chart and his code still survives today

If I missed you off, my apologies, there are so many people to thank its all to easy to forget.

And for a bit of nostalgia, below is a timeline from 2006 to today highlighting how GoldenCheetah has changed.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY !

Mark

WOW! Congrats!

I really believe GC is probably the best fitness app on the market, so much more configurable than others (and I use or used Rubitrack3, SportTracks3, WKO3 and WKO4...) And also free!

Keep up with the great work!

And put 10 more years with same passion!

   10yrs eh ? That's pretty cool.

I haven't had time to go through the full list of contributors and features but in case it's not listed, I wanted to add Rob Carlsen whom I met for the first time today. Rob rode all the way up from NYC to Montreal on his bike. Pretty impressive and an incredibly nice guy. We went for a 3hr ride today and yakked non stop.

We were trying to remember all the things we coded and I can barely remember a thing ! I know there was a ton of stuff that we wrote before Mark arrived but hell's bells if we can remember what it was. IIRC Rob did a lot of the OSX builds before Gareth took over.. Rob also did a lot of the histograms..

The other person I wanted to mention in case it wasn't already was Greg Lonnon who did most of the Google Maps integration. I think this is the stuff that impressed me the most and really put GC into another realm.

Good to see GC still going and good to see the community alive and well.

   All the best to everyone

And you too Justin.

I downloaded and installed v1.2 from September 09, it still works, and man it was a blast from the past -- 7 charts !
