Dear GC users,

I do not have a power meter, only speed, slope information, altitude
I would appreciate to be able to feed my imported TCX files with some power information.
So I created a power column and roughly feed manually the power with some calculated values, It takes much time..,i wonder if I could automate power editing.

Knowing some web sites offer power calculator from speed and slope (wind, total weight...).
For example if slope = 5% and speed = 14km/h then power ~175 watts.
if slope = 8% and speed 10,6 km/h then power =195 Watt
And so on
Supposing total weight (Bike + Rider= 75kg no wind)

Please let me kow If you have any solution or better Idea.
Thank tou by advance
Gui

There is a builtin tool in GC for this purpose you can run manually after import: Edit > Estimate Power Values. you can also configure it to run automatically on import, see https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/wiki/UG_Preferences_Data-Fields#processing

Dear Ale,

Thank you for your information
is it possible, I got the feeling the power is surestimated.
Maybe I should try in measurement to decrease my weight information or in estimate power value decrease the bike weight in oder to obtain better power result result.

Thank you

Gui

I think the likely cause is your aerodynamic resistance is lower than the estimated (due to better position/equipment than assumed, lower air density or drafting) and weight only has a minimal impact on this. Currently there is no way to fine tune this. If you have a better estimation Edit > Adjust Power Values may be useful.

You are welcome, for the next build we should have the possibility to specify the effective frontal area (CdA) and drafting multiplier if one has better estimates: https://github.com/GoldenCheetah/GoldenCheetah/pull/2546
