I have the same problem. I found that I have a library called
libvlc.so5 so I created a symbolic link calling libvlc.so5 ->
libvlc.so. It makes that the error disappeared but It really doesn't
work (I can't use vlc in gmote), although because the error
disappeared I can use touchpad and keyborad and listen to music in my
phone.

Please anybody knows a real solution?

Installing the libvlc-dev package worked on my 64 bit install of Kubuntu 12.04. Didn't have this problem on my 32 bit install of Kubuntu 12.04.
