Morning,

I have had two fraudulent activities on my VISA, that I've used in the
past to order stuff for the GMC from GMC vendoers.

Do others have similar issues as well, may there be a data breach?

Just thought to inform everybody about this.

Not sure it's related, but I had the same thing last week... Charges were being made in NYC on my card. I live, and was present in Texas at the
time...

Is that the only place you use that card?
I've had one of my cards hacked but Capital One was quick to call, void the charges, and send a replacement card.
Thieves suck. Good luck.

Peer,

I have a MasterCard and Visa card issued by Chase Bank in the USA and the reason I have two is because one of them gets hacked at
least once a year.

Was the fraudulent charges for parts from a GMC vendor?

I am with BoA. Everything was taken care of, so no real harm done. I am
just curious on how they got my information, as online usage of the card
is limited, if not exclusive to GMC vendors.

lol @ fashion stuff.

There are many ways the thieves can steal your stuff. Most likely is any retail establishment or gas station. That narrows it down right? ;)

Twice, in years past, when we used a CC at restaurants, within a month we received a call from the CC company asking if we had ordered something that
just didn't seem right. One was a $1,200 surf board in California. Yeah, that was me - I use it in the Ohio flatlands...

So now, when we go out, we use a CC that I have totally scratched off the three digit security code on the back. Then, when the card is taken to the
back to run the bill, they can't obtain the code. Usually you have to give that code when you order something over the phone. It seems to have
worked!

Nice idea - especially as the security code on my card was easily
remembered driving a GMC: 260 :)

We have the most secure data storage for our customer credit cards.
We deal on our filter side with major accts like Intel, Lockheed,Apple,
Google and others credit card data is kept secure.
One time a GMC customer reported that only place the card was used was at
our place.
I demanded a full investigation.
After several calls they assured us and the GMC customer that the hacking
did not happen at our place or through our system.
They would ot elaborate as to how that happend.

The security folks for the issuing companies are fairly close - mouthed, but very good at catching 'shaky' charges. I've had the cards reissued once
in two years. One of their guys who was giving tips to our audience told me how in the coffee room. He sez we have billions of transactions in our
database, of which at least hundreds of thousands were fraudulent. When you have that much data to compare, the false ones jump out at you. SunTrust
has a machine which calls me "Press one if you authorized a charge of $xxx at yyy business on zzz date" which is usually about five minutes after I
buy gas on a trip and forget to call their gerbil and tell him I'm traveling. If you don't press 1, a Fraud Person comes on the line and asks about
the transaction and (usually) voids it.

4 times in the last year with a card I use exclusively for my GMC expenses!

I use a Charles Schwab account and all of them had been detected and blocked.

I am thinking of switching to a Chase account where you can generate a CC number for single use.

It is becoming more and more complex to protect end-to-end as there are so many failure points.

I've switched browsers and computers with no luck.

The charges range from less than a dollar on Uber, to $136,000 attempted purchase?!
