Text overwrite / Insert is regulated by the "Ins" (Insert) button of
your keyboard. Press that button to toggle between the two modes.

For Windows 8 you must press function (fn) before pressing insert (which is also the print screen key)  This is maddening when it occurs, but I finally found the response in another thread somewhere, so I wanted to come back here and post the proper procedure!
