I feel like I've seen this before, but couldn't find it in a search:

How do you access the list of points stored in a trail? ...and is that just a list of the prior position vectors, or are there other points interpolated in there?

The answer is, you don't. If you need access to the points in a trail you need to make the trail yourself.
