Gitlab.com mirroring not automatically updating?

Hi there,

I've selected the following preference in a Gitlab.com project which I have up to mirror from Github:

It says it updated 8 minutes ago, but that's because I just hit the "update now" button. Previously, it said I had updated 23 hours ago. The checkbox was already checked, so I'm surprised it wasn't updating automatically.

Is there anything I'm missing? Is it possible, for example, that Gitlab only checks for updates on the default branch? (Though I wouldn't expect that from the help text, it's the only thing I can think of.)
