I did try Reset Password Link for Administrator user account, which is not working! I did not receive any mail related to reset.!

You can try using the Rails console to reset the password. Devise is
used for the password management. For hints look at things like

I think you can create a new account (so you know the password) and
mark it as an administrator in the SQL database. See

It is written in the troubleshooting guide, but I extracted it in a
separate topic at the forum [0]. Follow these steps to reset the admin
password (or any other password for that matter) via the Rails console.

If somebody needs it, here’s GitLab’s documentation about how to reset your root password http://doc.gitlab.com/ce/security/reset_root_password.html

Great.

It really helped me.

However why the root account was locked out? I just installed the gitlab server and did the first login.

Thx.

I'm having the same problem and the posted solution isn't working...

$ sudo -u git -H bundle exec rails console production

sudo: unknown user: git

sudo: unable to initialize policy plugin

or

$ gitlab-rails

-bash: gitlab-rails: command not found

Are you quite sure you're on the right server?  Do you see any gitlab processes?

Best,
Aleksey
