Well it’s been a long time since any of us have shared on this GHS site.  Not sure if our email addresses are still good and I’m going to test this and maybe we’ll renew our communicating with each other.  John Jacobs shared that Spencer Karr died recently from a long battle of cancer. Here’s a link to a video  of  Spencer.  It brought back wonderful memories of a great guy that we all knew in high school.  My memories of Spencer - he always had a smile and was just a great guy!  Looks like he had a good life with a family he loved.

We were at Spencer's funeral Thursday in Huntsville.  So were John Jacobs, Gary Kurio and Joyce Henderson.  JimBob, Gary Pickett, Carl Holmstrom, Larry Crabb and Harlan Holloway were honorary pall bearers.   JimBob, Larry and Gary visited him about 2 weeks ago.  His wife, Anne, called and said they were coming home from the cancer center in Tulsa.  They had done everything they could for him.  He went through numerous surgeries, procedures and medications these last 6+ years.  It bought him time to bury his mother and his brother, see his son and one daughter married and see the birth of two grandchildren.  He was always very upbeat every time we saw him and, yes, he has a wonderful family and was very well respected in the Huntsville area for all his community involvement.

Claudia,

Thank you for sending the information about Spencer. He was my father’s first patient when he opened his 2 room office behind the City Drug Store on the Square on Jan. 2, 1950. I can add that Bill Ramsel, who many of  you remember, died this past week of cancer as well.

Stephen - that’s a great story about your Dad and Spencer.  Sorry to hear about Bill.

Anyone have emails for some of our other classmates?  If so they can be added to this group.  Since I live in Kansas City and don’t see the Georgetown news, I really appreciate getting updates about our friends.  Thanks -

Dear Special Friends:

It has been way too long since we have had contact.  So sorry to hear about Spencer.  I watched his memorial video and it was very obvious he had a wonderful life with his loving family but unfortunately his life was cut way too short.  Also sorry to hear about Bill Ramsel.  I do think of you all often and hope your health and happiness is a Level 10.

Had lunch with John Jacob the other week and he is suggesting we have a combined reunion in a couple of years.  The idea would be to include several classes maybe from from 1966 - 1969.  I have no preference and the more the merrier.  We could try for 2017 which would be our 50th (OMG).  John and I discussed having a very informal gathering with the combined classes in Walburg or wherever.  We were thinking if each class had 2 or 3 class members to promote the event that might be easier.  You guys think about it and let me know.  At this time I am very over committed with real estate and Operation Blue Santa so I cannot put anything else on my plate at this time.  Hey it's just an idea so let me know.

Love to you all

Debbie

I love the idea of a reunion, especially if it’s pretty casual and no one has to do a lot of work for it - unless of course someone is into that.  My hope is that we can have gatherings other than funerals as we age, and build some more fun memories together -

It is obvious from the video that Spencer was a great family man and left his mark on the world.
Somewhere I have a cassette tape of Bill Ramsel's mountain man songs. Sorry to hear about the passing of both.  It is a reminder to give to the Relay for Life.  Some day cancer will be conquered.
Hugs to all - Judy
