That's an interesting demo.  Some of the current GeoTrellis work is adding support for imagery, but we do not yet have the same types of methods (calculate intensity, feature classification, etc.), but we are definitely headed in that direction.  Stay tuned.

thank you Robert. so what does geotrellis-spark can be use to ? for example : i want to distinguish the sea or  islands from the tif  file Image, does gt could be help?

GeoTrellis could help with library functionality in that case, in that it would support your development of writing algorithms in Scala that would do that sort of classification. We don't currently have classification out of the box, however, though it's something we are moving towards.
