Confused by load balancer web

Hi,

I'm little bit confused by a web page of a GCE HTTPs load balancer on the console.

When I click on the balancer to see its details, there is a section Backend services. Each service there has text "This backend service has no backends configured", but they are correctly connected to instance groups and work fine. It's strange.

We have also TCP internal load balancers and they are without that text message.

Another strange thing is on the details of VM instance group connected to that HTTPs load balancer.

One shows "In use by: balancer-url-map...", but the second has "In use by:" field empty.

Please let me know if you need more details or some screen grabs.

Hello Pavel,

As per the “backend service components” article, a backend contains an instance group, a balancing mode and a capacity setting. I reproduced the given scenario about backend services and got the same “This backend service has no backends configured” message even though all my backend VMs are properly configured and in the healthy state.

This looks to me a cosmetic bug, your HTTPs LB should be working fine without any issue. Engineering has been made aware of this issue.

When a VM instance group is attached to a specific LB, it will be shown in the VM instance group detail page as “In use by:<LB Name>”

When a VM instance group is not attached to any Load Balancer, it will be shown in VM instance group detail page as “In use by: <empty field>”
