My name is Lual Mayen and I am the founder of Junub Games. Before the civil war that has plagued South Sudan since 2016, I was a software engineerapp developer, and the  CEO Citycom Technologies. When I witnessed the violence overtaking South Sudan, the killing and displacement of millions, I was inspired to learn new skills and become a game developer in hopes of changing the mindset and attitude of my people. The result is Junub Games, a non-profit organization using games for peacebuilding in South Sudan, with aims to use games to address the conflict in the country.

The country’s stakeholders, regional actors, and the international community have tried many other means to bring peace to the world’s newest war-ravaged country, but still the world has witnessed persistent and vicious killings. Many people in communities ravaged by war do not have healthy or fun activities to occupy their time and provide hope, leading to cycles of violence. Therefore, Junub Games seeks to build peace through technology using video, board, and mobile games to provide an entertaining and informative community activity. For this reason, our games are not just for entertainment purposes, but play bigger picture in the reconciliatory efforts among conflicting communities.

Therefore we are doing crowding funding for building our new game HateCop and the distribution of our board game to the refugee, you can help us by sharing it with your network or donating to the campaign.
