Become our next President! Call for candidates for presidential position!

Hey Everyone,

Last week, Liza officially stepped down from her position as President. We are grateful for all the hard work she put into the organization over the last two years, the Hackerspace has certainly grown under her leadership and guidance. Liza, we all wish you the best in your future endeavors!

However, this means the position of President on the Board of Directors is currently vacant, so we are looking for candidates interested in joining the Board, and to help lead the Gainesville Hackerspace.

Who is able to become president?

• According to our Bylaws, Article V, Section 3: Elections, each voting member present shall be given an opportunity to be a candidate for each officer position.

What are the duties of President? Will there be a lot on my plate?

• According to our Bylaws, Article IV, Section 2:
• The President shall preside over all meetings or designate an alternate, attempt to achieve consensus in all decision-making, ensure the membership is informed of all relevant issues, and serve all other duties of a President as required by law or custom.

When are elections?

• Elections will be during our next General Body Meeting, which is Tuesday, August 1st.

Who is currently running for the position?

• A list of all candidates can be found here, in this Google Document - Presidential Candidates. The Secretary will keep this list up-to-date as members announce their candidacy.
