Hey, hackers.

On Thursday 8/27 there will be a JavaScript meetup at Hackerspace, but our projector is temporarily broken. (The new bulb we ordered burned out immediately because there’s a problem with the cooling fan.)

Can anyone loan us a projector for a few days, or just for Thursday night? It would be a huge help!

I've got one, but it literally only takes composite video input, so I doubt it's worth bothering with.

I had one down there some time ago I got from a county auction. Does anyone know what happened to it.

Yes, I think we’ll need it to have VGA, DVI, or HDMI. Not sure we have anything that could adapt the presenters’ laptops to composite.

Thanks, though, Daniel.

This is kind of a radical notion,  but maybe you could do an in-place google hangout,  if there are N/2  laptops....

Also,  it would allow asocial doobies like me to participate.

I saw a projector on last night.  Looks like someone fixed it.  What happened?

Yeah, it turns on with the new bulb, but turns off with a generic 3 red blinks error code at less than 5 minutes of run time.

I think one of the fans might be bad as it gets really hot before it turns off, but it does not show the overheating or dead fan error codes.

I remember that projector you got. Maybe it’s still at the space? I’ll try to look for it tomorrow. If I recall correctly, it wasn’t functional, but I’ll double check.

Thanks, Randy. That’s a great suggestion. Will try to do a hangout in addition to getting a loaner projector.

Isn't someone planning to do a presentation tomorrow night?

Chris Dolphin is hosting a JavaScript meetup at the space tomorrow (Thu) at 7pm. If we can’t get a projector, Chris will use a large monitor and/or Google Hangouts.

Here’s info on the event. Should be awesome.

If you do, it might be worth playing around with making a youtube recording of the event - maybe not this time though.

Projector fan is now fixed (fan hardwired to on, bypassing any power management for the fan), but I can't seem to get it to display from VGA. I tried again today after setting to 800x600 thinking it maybe had a scaling issue. With nothing to display, it shuts itself off after a while but with no error/blink code

maybe there is a trick to get that thing to display, if anyone knows it give it a try so we can decide if a new unit is needed or not.

Do you remember if we plugged the brown board back in to the green board?

I remember we double checked to make sure nothing was forgotten...but I don't remember specifically if that board was plugged in at the end.  I just check the before pics, and the brown board looks like the power board. seems to have power. But maybe the long ribbon cable on the big green board could have been forgotten?
