AGENDA

First Baptist Meeting this week
Romero Fundraising
DU Students
4/23 Service Planning
Opening Reading – Kathy Glatz
Jeanette Update – Has not heard from attorney regarding her case, She needs to know what is the next legal step to take. Until then, she is not able to plan a strategy for herself and her role in the community.
Jeanette showed letters addressed to Senator Cory Gardner to support DACA
Jeanette’s children will be going to DC April 12-14 to speak to congressional representatives. She will need assistance this week for Zuri, she will need to be driven to and from school.
Jeanette has (30) t-shirts and posters available for sale. The T-shirts are $20 and the posters
$15. She is concerned about funds as she
is not aware how long she will have to be in sanctuary.
She is also concerned who is picking up the children from school. At times, she does not know the individuals volunteering. When she does not know the drivers, she asks them to keep their phone on until they get to the school.
Micah discussed a new tool that can be used to contact legislators. It uses texts and can be personalized.
Another concern are volunteers that Jeanette does not know. There was a man that traveled from Avon to stay overnight, he acted estrange and asked her a lot of questions. Others had concern about him as well. He had a camera, and wanted to interview Jeanette on video.
Everyone agreed that those signing to drive the children to school or stay overnight need to have a background check. Any cost of doing that, should come out of the committee’s budget.
First Baptist - Meeting on Wednesday, April 12th @ 7:00pm at FUSD. The new pastor has increased the congregation from about 15 families to approximately 45 families. The focus of the church is more social—justice oriented. The church facilities are also very nice. During the meeting they will likely ask Jeanette questions, see the facilities, etc.
Jeanette mentioned that another group “Get Real” is will be staging a support demonstration outside the church also on Wednesday.
Romero Fundraising – Scheduled for Friday 4/21 at FUSD. This will be a theater performance by Jeanette telling her story. All the funds raised will be for Jeanette and Ingrid.
DU Students – Five graduate students from an Advance Qualitative Methods in Anthropology course will be participating in the Wednesday meeting. They will interview Jeanette and Ingrid. They will possibly volunteer (overnights.) They are aware of the confidential nature and understand the cause for confidentiality and caution. Chris Wheeler will be working with the group, as well as the professor.
