Hi All—

I’ve pushed an updated beta firmware to Github (https://github.com/flysight/flysight). This firmware adds altitude alarms. Up to ten alarms can be added, with an optional window of silence around each alarm to help distinguish it from the background tones. There are four different alarm tones—a beep, a chirp up/down, and a warble.

The new configuration file includes one “dummy” alarm at the end. This alarm’s type is set to “no alarm”, so it won’t actually sound. To add more alarms, just copy/paste additional alarm elevation/type pairs to the end of the file.

These alarms are specifically *not* intended to be used for break-off, pull-time, etc., and a warning of such is included in the configuration file. I don’t think that GPS is reliable enough to be used for life-saving purposes. However, I do think there is value in having alarms, e.g., for the start and end of the window in competition.

I’ve done some testing with the alarms here, but would appreciate any additional testing you guys might do. If you find any problems, or if you have general comments on the alarms, please let me know.

Thanks!

Michael
