in_syslog ssl-enabled

Hi,

I am looking for a way to setup fluentd for ssl-enabled syslog input.
I did not find any parameter for the in_syslog plugin which enables ssl.
Am I missing something or there is not this feature in fluentd?

There is no such feature in in_syslog.

Maybe you are first user who wants SSL support.

Hmm... workaround is syslog -SSL-> syslog -> fluentd or

syslog -> fluentd - secure-forward -> fluentd models.

what about in_tcp plugin? Does it support SSL input?
It is very strange that no body wants to use fluentd for ssl input.

Almost users use secure-forward to transfer logs by secure connection.

Fluentd is a light-weight and has nice buffering feature so

many users setup fluentd on application node together.

Leaf node (app + fluentd) <- secure-forward ->  aggregator node (fluentd)

Syslog case is also same. This is why no users want SSL support in syslog plugin.

Not yet but we have a plan to add SSL support in new plugin API.

After that, we may provide SSL/TLS via raw TCP socket.

I have syslog-ng currently sending data to fluentd vai tcp and was curious if there has been any movement on the SSL/TLS via the raw TCP socket that you mentioned last year.

Currenlty, no. Since v1.0, we can use out_forward transport way for tcp plugin.
