alıcı FLEx list
For my PhD research, I am interested in analysing lexemes and senses in relation to speakers (People). I know the Lexicon is focused on Lexemes (understandably!), but I'm wondering if it's possible to turn things around and focus instead on People. Ideally, I could filter for specific People and view all the lexemes they have used (filtered further by grammatical info and complex form type). At very least, I would need to view the number of times each speaker has used a lexeme, not just the number of times the lexeme has been used in total. I am experimenting with ways to do this, although I'm not sure whether it will be possible or not.

So far, I have also created a custom field in the Lexicon called Participants with Type='List Reference (multiple items)', and linked it to the People list. However, I can't get FLEx to automatically populate the field with the speaker name; I have to input this data myself. I would like to find a way for FLEx to do this automatically, because FLEx already knows which People have spoken which lexemes (at least at the utterance level, and utterances contain lexemes). Can you think of any way I can get it automatically populated?

Also, when I created the custom field, I had to choose the Location of the new field and I chose Lexical Entry level. Sense was also an option - I don't know if one of these would be better than another. What I really want to do is to link this to the 'Number of Text Analyses' columns and see how many times a particular Participant used a word.

It may help to give a bit of context: I am trying to use FLEx for my PhD research project focusing on the use of English loanwords in a dialect of Hindi spoken in a remote town in rural North India. I'm aware that my requirements may be non-standard, and I don't want to cause anyone any bother! What I'm trying to do at the moment is figure out what is possible within the way FLEx currently works.

Grateful for all your help!

Emma
