How would one Import a Reversal Index into a new project?  It used to be possible.

Jonathan I think that is possible if one can find a way to process the XML export in order to get it into SheetSwiper.

Steps to complete this.
  1. export the XML (or the HTML) of a reversal index
  2. Open the XML in LibreOffice Calc
  3. using the regex search and replace to remove all of the script fields (anything surrounded by <>)
  4. Save as CSV
  5. Open with Excel. crtl+g then click on special, check blanks.
  6. right click on an empty cell that has been selected and then delete, move left.
  7. put backslash codes at the top of the spreadsheet. (minimally Vernacular, analysis gloss, and POS)
  8. save as a xls file
  9. run sheetswiper on the file.
  10. import into the new project as a SFM.

I can't get passed step 2. When I try to open the XML in calc it comes up with an "import text" option, where i need to decide the separator. I cannot find a solution that doesn't give me an error that there are too many columns or another similar error. Any ideas? Thanks, David

LibreOffice updates have changed this.  I think you can do this in writer now.  Open and then click the HTML button and run a regex Find and replace. If that doesn't work use Notepad++.

Updated steps on this for others who are interested. This is a little ugly but only a little.
  1. Send and receive your Vernacular project.
  2. Create new languages in the Vernacular Project. In the vernacular writing systems add the same language that you are using for analysis. In the analysis writing systems add the vernacular language.
  3. In bulk edit, add the gloss vernacular language to the columns. Add the lexeme analysis language to the columns.
  4. Bulk copy the lexeme form to the gloss vernacular field. Bulk copy the gloss analysis filed to the lexeme analysis field.
  5. export as a Lift Lexicon.
  6. Open up the Analysis to Vernacular project. Import the lift file into the project.
The main draw backs are that you will have all of the data in the project even if it is hidden. Did I explain this fully?
