Change template for email or jabber messages

Is there some documentation on how to modify the templates for notifications?  I see in the config, commented references that don't exist in my installation (Ubuntu). 

I would like to have a custom format and just cannot figure it out.

If you uncomment the template line then put what you want to use as the template in the location specified it works.

That's right. You can copy the default templates from out of the installed flapjack into the paths you want and then customise them.
