FITS 1.1.1 has been released and is available on the FITS website here.

There is improved handling of large files by the embedded DROID tool. This can be adjusted in the fits.xml configuration file. Read about this new droid_read_limit configuration value here. There has also been a modifications to the API of FitsOutput.java.
