Vieweing Firebase events in Google Analytics

According to this page:
"Basic app-usage data is collected automatically and is available in Google Analytics and Google Analytics for Firebase". I've migrated an old iOS Google Analytics project to use Firebase and we seem to no longer receive data in Google Analytics. I do see data in Firebase.
Is the article I linked above accurate or am I missing something that enables seeing events in both Google Analytics and Google Analytics for Firebase?
