Domain not whitelisted by project

This is my first time experience with firebase. I have used it's Authentication for my current app. Recently I came across a strange error in email verification. when I trigger the email verification step, it raises the error - "Domain not whitelisted by project". I didn't understand what is actually going wrong. As I have already added my staging domain under firebase's authentication domain list. when I followed some docs related to the problem, I found that I need to host my custom domain with firebase using "Hosting" in firebase console.

Am I getting it correctly? Is there any alternative to do so? Please help!

Not really sure what you mean here. It sounds like you might be running into multiple issues. We'll probably need enough specifics that we can understand the process well enough to recreate the same conditions before we can help.
