Today is my last day with Sunlight, and while I'm excited to figure out what is next the decision to leave was incredibly difficult.  Difficult not only because of the great people here in this office but also all of you that have been part of this great community with me.  This community is just as much a part of Sunlight as me or anyone here.

I'm really proud of what we've all accomplished together, all of the apps built on Sunlights APIs, all the work that went into turning Open States into what it has become, and the work done and yet to be done on Open Civic Data.

Thank you all for being an inspiring force for change all of these years.

To those of you I met, I hope we stay in touch, and to those of you I only interacted with on this list, it's been a pleasure and I hope our paths cross in the future.

Although a relative noob in the civic-tech space I have long admired every person I've met and had the opportunity to communicate with from Sunlight Foundation.

From my perspective, each of you has been extremely selfless, encouraging and supportive to a wide range of people from Senators to aspiring civic-activist entrepreneurs like myself.

The foundational culture you have all helped build and foster at Sunlight is no easy task. I think it's fair to say that, speaking for civic-stakeholders around the world, you have been a great example of how to get engaged and build a civic community with a remarkable sense of humility.

Thank you James. I hope you have a bright shining future and look forward to your next adventure as well!
